1. Who we are and what Mum Economy is

Mum Economy (ABN 20 137 330 689) ("Mum Economy", "we", "us") runs this website.

Mum Economy is a free community connector. We help people share jobs and tasks, apply for work, find possible matches, build Trust Marks and find local support through The Village. We are not an agency, employer, recruitment service, booking platform, payment platform or insurer.

2. Who can use Mum Economy

You must be 18 or older. When you sign up, you confirm that you are a mum, dad, primary carer, or a person or business that supports the values located in the House Rules of the Mum Economy community. You must give accurate information, use only one account, and keep your details up to date.

3. Your account

Keep your password secure and don't share your account. You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has used it. You can ask us to close your account at any time using the Contact Us form.

4. Arrangements are made directly between users

Any work, payment, timing, checks, safety arrangements, scope of work, cancellations or expectations are arranged directly between the people involved.

Mum Economy does not employ anyone, manage payments, provide insurance, supervise jobs or tasks, guarantee work, guarantee payment, screen every person or guarantee services. We do not decide whether an arrangement is employment, contracting or something else.

You are responsible for your own tax (including any ABN or GST obligations), superannuation, insurance, workers' compensation, work health and safety duties and any other legal obligations that apply to the work you offer or arrange.

5. Your responsibility and your own checks

You are responsible for deciding whether a job, task, person, offer or arrangement is suitable for you.

Before starting any job or task, agree directly on the details, including the scope of work, timing, location, payment, cancellation expectations and any relevant checks, references, qualifications, insurance or experience (for example a Blue Card where children are involved).

6. Jobs and tasks that involve children

Some jobs and tasks on Mum Economy may involve children, such as babysitting, school pick-up or drop-off, or helping with a child's care. Mum Economy does not supervise, screen, approve or take part in these arrangements. They are made directly between the parent or guardian and the person helping, and each of them is responsible for the arrangement, including the safety and care of the child.

If you offer to care for or transport a child, you are responsible for holding any checks, licences, approvals or insurance the law requires (for example, a Blue Card where one is required in Queensland). Mum Economy does not guarantee that anyone holds these. If you are a parent or guardian, you are responsible for deciding whether a person is suitable and for what you agree with them.

If children are present while other work is being done, responsibility for the children remains with the parent or guardian at all times.

7. The Village and local providers

The Village may list independent local providers, such as outside-school-hours care, school holiday programs, transport, household support or meal support. These providers are separate businesses. We do a basic check on providers before they are listed, but this is not a licence check, a background check or a guarantee, and we do not supervise, licence or endorse them. Listing a provider, or calling it "trusted", does not mean we have verified everything about it.

If you use a Village provider, you are responsible for checking that they hold the licences, approvals and checks their service needs, and for agreeing the details directly with them. Section 6 still applies to jobs and tasks posted by members.

8. Content you post and public information

You are responsible for everything you post or submit, including jobs, tasks, applications, messages, profiles, reviews, vouches and feedback. It must be accurate, lawful, and not infringe anyone else's rights. Don't share other people's private information without their permission.

Task posts are visible on the website and can be seen by people who aren't logged in. Don't post phone numbers, addresses, private family details, sensitive information or anything you don't want to be public. We automatically hide email addresses and Australian phone numbers in job and task posts, but this can miss things, so please check what you write.

You keep ownership of your content. You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, display and use it to run, improve and promote Mum Economy. This includes quoting reviews and feedback about Mum Economy, with your first name, on our website and marketing. If you'd like us not to feature something you wrote, contact us.

9. Messages

Messages are between the people in the conversation. Be respectful, and don't use messages for harassment, spam or sales pitches. We store messages, and we may look at them where needed to look into a report, keep people safe, or meet a legal requirement.

10. Reviews, vouches and Trust Marks

Reviews, vouches and Trust Marks are written by other people. They are opinions, not a background check, verification, endorsement or guarantee by Mum Economy.

Only write a review or vouch if it is honest and based on your own experience. Don't write fake reviews, offer or ask for payment or favours in return for one, or pressure or retaliate against someone over one.

Only invite people to vouch for you if they know you and would reasonably expect the request. Don't send repeated or unwanted invitations.

If you believe a review or vouch about you is inaccurate or unfair, use the Contact Us form. We may remove content at our discretion.

11. Mum Profiles

A Mum Profile is optional. If you create one and tick the consent box, your name, suburb and the details you add (such as skills, availability and work preferences), but not your email address, may be shown to employers, businesses and households on Mum Economy so they can contact you about work without you needing to apply. We will only show Mum Profiles this way once the feature is live.

You can hide or show your Mum Profile at any time from My Profile in your dashboard. Hiding it stops it being shown to others from then on. It does not erase anything someone has already seen. To have your profile deleted, contact us.

Employers and businesses may only use Mum Profile information to consider someone for work and to contact them respectfully. They must not copy, scrape, sell or share profiles, send spam, or discriminate unlawfully. We do not verify what people put in their profiles.

12. Prohibited requests and conduct

You must not use Mum Economy to post, offer, promote or request anything unsafe, illegal, misleading, discriminatory, exploitative, inappropriate or outside the House Rules. You must also not harass or impersonate anyone, upload harmful code, or copy or scrape the website by automated means.

13. Emails and notifications

We email you about your account and activity, such as applications, matches, messages and review requests. We may also send updates, job and task roundups and community information. You can opt out of non-essential emails at any time using the unsubscribe link at the bottom of those emails, or by contacting us.

14. Reporting a concern

If you see something that breaks these Terms or the House Rules, or you feel unsafe, use the Contact Us form. We will review reports but may not be able to reply to each one. If someone is in immediate danger, call 000.

15. Removing content and closing accounts

We may decline, edit, remove or refuse to share any job, task, comment, offer, profile or other content, and may suspend or close any account, if we think it breaks these Terms or the House Rules, or for safety or legal reasons. You can stop using Mum Economy at any time and ask us to close your account. We may keep some records where the law requires.

16. Our website

The Mum Economy name, branding, design and content belong to us or our licensors. Don't copy or reuse them without permission. We try to keep the website running smoothly but don't promise it will always be available or error-free. The website may link to third-party sites or services that we don't control.

17. No guarantee

Mum Economy does not guarantee that you will find help, find work, be selected for a job or task, receive payment, receive a response, or have a successful experience. We simply help make possible connections.

18. Limitation of responsibility

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Mum Economy is not responsible for loss, injury, damage, disputes, payment issues, failed arrangements, unsuitable work, unsafe conduct or any other issue arising from arrangements made between users, or from your use of third-party providers or services.

Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or changes any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot lawfully be excluded. Where the law allows us to limit our liability for a failure to meet a consumer guarantee, our liability is limited to supplying the service again or paying the cost of having it supplied again.

19. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect and use personal information. It forms part of these Terms.

20. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will publish the updated version on this page with a new "last updated" date, and we will let members know by email or when they next sign in. If you keep using Mum Economy after a change, you accept the updated Terms. For significant changes we may ask you to agree again.

21. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia. You and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Queensland.
